Got a day to spend in Key West? We’ve got you covered with the ultimate plan to make the most of it. From iconic photo ops and beach time to grabbing cold drinks and bites at The Alamo, this guide will have you hitting all the best spots.
1. Snap That Southernmost Point Pic
Kick off your day with the must-do selfie at the Southernmost Point buoy. It’s that famous red, yellow, and black marker that tells everyone you’re at the southernmost tip of the U.S. Pro tip: get there early to dodge the crowd. Afterward, take a chill walk along the water and soak in the ocean views.
2. A Little History Stop
Before you hit the beach, swing by the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum. This place is loaded with history, plus you’ll see the six-toed cats wandering around (yep, they’re pretty much famous too). Even if you’re not into books, the gardens and vibe are worth it.
3. Beach Time at Fort Zach
Time to cool off! Head to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park for some beach action. You can swim, snorkel, or just lounge on the sand and catch some rays. The views are amazing, and there’s a cool old fort to explore if you’re up for more history.
4. Lunch and Drinks at The Alamo
By now, you’ve earned some good food and a drink! Make your way to The Alamo at 4 Charles St. and grab a seat. Our Alamo Burger is stacked with double everything – bacon, cheddar, onions, you name it. Or if you’re feeling more island vibes, our Shrimp Tacos are a killer choice. Wash it all down with an Alamo Key Lime cocktail, because when in Key West, right?
5. Sunset Sail or Mallory Square
Once you’re fueled up, head over to Mallory Square for the famous Sunset Celebration. There’s street performers, live music, and, of course, an epic sunset over the ocean. If you want to take it up a notch, hop on a sunset sail and enjoy the view from the water with a drink in hand. You’ll thank us later.
6. Live Music at The Alamo
After the sunset, come back to The Alamo to keep the night rolling with some live music. We’ve got local bands playing everything from rock to country. Order a round of Rum Mules or maybe a Pina Colada – whatever you’re feeling – and chill with the tunes.
7. Nightcap on Duval Street
If you’re still up for more after the music at The Alamo, Duval Street’s the place to be. Hit up a couple more bars like Sloppy Joe’s or Green Parrot, or just cruise around and see where the night takes you. But if you want one last drink before you call it a night, swing back by The Alamo – we’ve always got a cold one waiting for you.
Key West is all about having a good time, and this plan hits all the top spots. And remember, no trip is complete without grabbing some food and drinks at The Alamo on 4 Charles St. See you there!
